Carmen Ballvé

With a degree in Pedagogy and Educational Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, she studied photography at the ICP (International Center of Photography) in New York. She has contributed to Spanish newspapers and magazines and her work has been exhibited in New York, London, Edinburgh, Dar es Salaam, Tbilisi and Madrid, among others. During her stay in the Dominican Republic she realized the photographic and documentary project “Batey”, about the Haitian emigrant labourers in the cane sugar fields, and together with other works in Ethiopia, Mongolia and Peru they have been exhibited in musical, film and photography international festivals.

 

Polo Vallejo

Doctor of Musical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, teacher and composer. Internationally renowned in the field of musical pedagogy and empirical musicology, he has been doing research in Sub-Sahara Africa since 1987 in which he has formulated a systematic study of the music of the Wagogo of Tanzania. The author of numerous didactic materials, he study in situ the vocal polyphonies, both profane and religious, of Georgia (the Caucasus) and the children’s repertory of the Kedougou region (Senegal). Professor and lecturer at international musical education and research courses on the seven continents.
